So procrastinating
Should I be worried?

What Gender Is Your Brain? )

And also, other-meme-thing, whee. )

Anyway, we had an early dismissal today, thanks to the snow that is coming down. Is it bad that I'm slightly disappointed that I missed Comp Sci and Chorus? Um, yeah, probably bad.

On the way back home, our bus hit another car. It wasn't a very severe accident- no one hurt, or anything, and from what I could see, the car wasn't too badly damaged at all- but we did get delayed for a little. And had to add our names to the liability list. And I feel rather bad for the driver, as the policeman informed her that she was the one at fault. Um. Dunno what happens now.

So have homework I need to be doing. I hope I have posterboard. I better have posterboard. Because a) my mom's not going outside again in the snow and b) the map of Africa I need to do for World Civ is due Thursday and I should really start working on it before then ahahahaha.

I went to the school newspaper meeting today, which means next week is going to be my monthly scuttle-around-with-a-notebook-time. Managed to sneak in and grab my assignments before Chorus started, meaning I didn't have to stay after until 4:00 for something which would take less than a minute. So now, I'm covering 1) National Novel Editing Month, 2) the National French Exam, and c) Tryouts for All-State Chorus. All very convenient, since NaNoEdMo stuff can be found online, and I take both French and Chorus. So. ^^

Happily, the second half of the Geometry test was rather ... easy. Unless it was all just an elaborate plot on his part to lull us into a false sense of security, and I actually got everything wrong. So, um, hoping here. I'll be happy with anything >= 90, frankly. Fingers crossed.

Had something weird happen to my voice in Chorus today where I couldn't hit a middle A without cracking. Which is, um. Embarassing. And really pathetic. Ended up resorting to a really, really fake (and quiet) falsetto for what seemed like awhile before finally fixing it. Not really sure how. They should have deeper parts for the altos. I'd like that. See, the line the tenors are doing there? That's reasonable.

Biology test tomorrow, on cells and organelles. Which I should be studying for. And will as soon as I get back from light therapy. Yeah.

Random Snippet of Jo Stuff That Would Never Happen )

Have posted a second Trent post on the [info]discworld_rpg. Because I can. And, um, yes. Only notable because I'm still deathly afraid of mucking something up.

So, by my calculations, I can get a maximum of 90% on my Geometry test. Which would be okay. The downside is I a) don't know just how many more mistakes I might have made and b) a 90 would require I get every single thing correct on the second portion of the test tomorrow. Ahah. Will just have to hope for partial credit.

But I know I got at least one question correct! So, on the bright side, I can't get less than a 5! Ha! So there!

Ah, well. There is always Hope. *g*

On the bright side, have been reading Edward II in my spare time. Very fun.

Did the South Korea presentation today. My half, on North Korea, isn't going to be until Thursday, since Mr U is not going to be in tomorrow. So, um, yes.

What I am doing: procrastinating on the computer.

What I am not doing: studying for the Geometry test tomorrow.

What I will be doing: panicking studying like a MADPERSON for the aforesaid Geometry test. (Only not, because a mad person would take the exam and write something like "FIIIIIIIIIIIISH!!!!! Ahahahahahaha!!!!!" Dribble, dribble.)

What I will be doing tomorrow: failing the aforesaid Geometry test. Because no matter how much I study, I am dead, I say! Dead! *thunk*

Oh, and giving my World Civ presentation on North Korea. But that's okay because it was relatively fun to do, and is hopefully funny, and is shiny. That's important. No one can resist the appeal of a shiny PowerPoint presentation. With equally shiny animations, yay!

I'm a little wired, if you haven't been able to tell. I hypothesize that it's made up part by panic and the fact that I slept something rather less than 5 hours last night. Whee, who needs sleep?

(I'm going to regret this later, I suspect.)

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
A meme gacked from [info]ariastar. Because, um, I'm feeling a little random.

1. I __ Litsares.
2. Litsares loves __.
3. Litsares is my __.
4. I want to __ Litsares.
5. Litsares can __ my __.
6. Litsares needs __.
7. Litsares can be __.
8. I think Litsares should __.
9. Without Litsares I would __.
10. Best thing about Litsares is __.
11. Worst thing about Litsares is __.
12. Meeting Litsares was __.
13. Litsares reminds me of __.
14. Someday Litsares will __.
15. I wish Litsares would __ for me.
16. Without Litsares the world would be __.
17. If __ Litsares would be __.

...The problem with this username, that I really should have foreseen, is that switching the last two letters renders it "Litsarse." Ahah. How very droll.

I just spent about half an hour trying to frantically fix some kind of problem with my keyboard. Only to realize that the shift key was stuck. *headdesk* I am so stupid sometimes...

In other news, I just finished A Dead Man in Deptford. Whee! Such a fun book. The writing style took shorter to adjust to than I would have expected (he doesn't use quotation marks, just hyphens and indentation. And he sticks action tags right in with the dialogue, which can be a little confusing). Loved it. Shakespeare had a few short scenes (one of which where he was collaborating on Henry VI with Christopher Marlowe, hee), which made me squee. Ahah. I've now started The Reckoning, and will probably move on to my other Burgess book, about Shakespeare, after that. (All of this while making my way through Edward II. Whee!)
I have so many writing ideas buzzing around right now, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to start half of them. The rest I can't continue/finish. Oh dear.

... That-which-was-my-NaNo-and-was-reworked-at-least-eight-times (I scrapped the main character and replaced him with one of the supporting cast, hah) has been altered yet again in my head. I quite like the direction it's taking now; all I want is a first line. *ponders*

School has been a bloody bugger, which explains the lack of entries for the past few days. Not that I missed much, relatively speaking, but a number of amusing (to me, anyway) things happened, but I've forgotten most of them. Ahah.

One thing I do recall: my mother was cleaning out the basement, and she found an old diary she forced me to write back when I was eight. Gods, I was a twerp. The entries are excruciatingly tedious, for one thing. The first one starts, "Today I woke up. Then I brushed my teeth. Then I ate breakfast. I had blah blah blah blah" and continues in basically the same way. Not to mention the fact that, while it's clear I was trying to spell and puntuate correctly, I still made stupid mistakes like "tomatoe" and "promblem." Ahah. One entry, however, amuses me greatly, reproduced here, errors and all, for you brain damage entertainment.

A good reason why I sometimes hate my younger self )

Twerp! I was a twerp! We were twerps!

In other news, my father went out and got the family a new computer, although it's basically going to be me who uses it, seeing as the Weasel has inherited the old one, Dad uses his laptop for the most part, and ditto on Mom. So... unhibited glee. However. My computer is no longer HEX. That's the old one Weasel got. So I was forced to quickly think up a new title on the spot, with Dad staring over my shoulder, and so this computer is now... Otto. Ahah. Ahah. Ahah.

Vell, zere are veirder zings, yes? I could haff named him Villiam. I vas goink to, actually, but decided 'Villiam' vould be stranger for a computer zen 'Otto.' Oh, my vord. I zink I am messink up zer accent. Bugger...

I am such. A. Weirdo.

And in still other news, yesterday I fell asleep entirely without meaning to over my Geometry homework... and woke up an hour later to find I'd drooled on the textbook. Oh, gods, the embarassment. I'm can only be grateful that was my own copy of the textbook, as opposed to the school's...

So procrastinating
Belated Happy New Year's to all! Would have posted on the day, but was late, so...

I would also do one of those Year in Review things, except that I, er, can't really remember most of the year. Ahah. I am embarassingly unremarkable. I believe a list of New Year's resolutions is also customary, except that a) I can't really think of any and b) even if I could, I know I wouldn't keep them. Erm.

So, I'm currently reading this book- Heroics for Beginners by John Moore. How to Be a Hero for Dummies, style of thing. It's actually quite amusing. I think I've acquired a taste for humorous fantasy, ahah.

Also, may I extend a warm thanks to all who chipped in with plotbunny ideas? I am now keeping myself happily busy on the writing front. The only downside to this is that, seeing as school starts tomorrow, there will be less writing time. Just when I was getting into the swing of things, too. Woe.

In other news, dried strawberries? Are only marginally less addictive than fresh ones. Oh, gods, I'm so bad. (And this paper I'm doing for Gym? Is so. Bloody. Boring. Mgner, mgner, mgner...)

JAVA Geekery
First off, an art meme gacked from lily22 )

In other news, I've been writing, yay! Haven't gotten anything actually finished yet, just little snippets. But it's fun to do. Have them up at [info]_mordancy if anyone's interested. (I so should have made that a community. But no...)

New Year's today. Mum has cooked all kinds of stuff, now lying around the kitchen. She coerced me into helping with the little pastries, so I'm just praying they're still edible, since I have this amazing talent - Turning Good Food Poisonous While Following the Recipe Exactly. So.

Other than that, pretty boring day. ^^

Happy birthday, [info]polaris_starz!

In other news, my little sister is once again amenable to being read to, and so I am now having way too much fun going through Going Postal with her. Heh heh. Attempting to fake Vetinari's voice is way too enjoyable, although I've yet to settle on something suitable for Moist.

Was also forced to clean out my room today, specifically the bookcase and the chaotic mountain of... stuff that is my desk. Seriously, I don't think I've ever really used it for its intended function, but rather as a storage area for anything and everything. Now, amazingly, one can actually see the surface of the thing (which is pink, thanks to my parents' taste of many years ago, so I'm not entirely certain this is good).
28th-Dec-2004 09:48 pm - In Which I Am Mistaken for a Wino
Semicolon love
Apparently, a friend of my father's from work wanted to know what to get the family for a New Year's present. So my father accurately replied that my mother was rather fond of plum wine. Imagine his surprise when, at work today, the aforementioned friend began the following exchange.

"I have the plum wine."

"Oh, thank you!"

"But she might want to dilute it a bit."

"... Who?"

"Your daughter! You said she liked plum wine!"

Beat.

"Er...no."

Yes. I am a fourteen-year-old plum wine lover. Heh heh.

In other news, I finally got my hands on a (rented) copy of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. I'd gotten the playtext earlier, but the movie was added cool-ness. So, so, so fun. I loved it. The downside is that now I want icons! Argh!

In other news, I got dragged along for clothes-shopping. Argh. I, unfortunately, can derive no enjoyment from the activity. For me, at least, it's excruciatingly boring. Ah, well.

I also got no schoolwork done. My projects can stew for a few more days, eh?

I should try to write something. I will find plotbunnies, you hear?
